Color Crush: Highlighter Yellow

Can’t get enough of this cheerful hue and here’s why: it’s surprisingly versatile (pair w/ blues, neutrals, lavender, grey, black…the list goes on) and not only will it brighten your look, it will brighten your mood too!  Seriously.  Give it a try…

Some neon hued numbers I’m coveting: this Topshop crochet dress and this shift dress from the Banana/Milly collaboration.

Happy Friday!

Coveting: A Pretty Peplum

With an ethnic print, neon hues, and a peplum, Anthropologie’s Daksha Stiched Top by Manish Aurora had me at hello.  And, as styled via Atlantic-Pacific below, it looks equally fabulous with a full skirt as it does with skinny denim or trousers.  Lady-like perfection!

Bam.  Elisa Nalin always nails it with her bright color pairings and mix of textures.  Mint is also perfect for spring, especially when you long for summer brights but winter just won’t seem to go away (I’m talking to you Chicago!).

Tough Chic

image

Stunning!  A tough moto jacket is the perfect counterpart to an otherwise feminine look–especially when paired with spring florals, pastels or white (my fave).  Dress it up with lace up pumps as above or take a cue from Veronika Heilbrunner (below) and add some colorful sneaks. Either way, these ladies know how it’s done!

imageFor a similar look try Vince’s Vintage Leather Jacket (splurge).  Two more affordable options are the Oasis Slash Leather Biker Jacket ($296) and the ASOS Leather Biker Jacket ($169).  This PU Quilted Biker Jacket is a steal at $88.00.

Fashion Week(s) Fall 2013: Street Style Roundup

imageStarting off with New York and Hanneli. Blues of all shades and finely pleated or knife pleat skirts (Miroslava Duma in winter white below) were a recurring theme.

Looking even remotely cute in a massive NYC blizzard, or just down right freezing temps, is no easy feat. These gals get props for layering–a great topper doesn’t hurt either.

This Commes des Garçons number is AMAZING.

Talk about a find–the yellow jacket on Nasiba Adilova above is vintage Christian Lacroix!  Now on to London…where the weather was perhaps a tad less burdensome. image

More coats…

And a little peplum action–glad to see it’s still alive and well.  Looking good Freida, love the peep toe pumps.

Next up is Paris–now this is really starting to morph into more of a coat roundup but these next few are seriously cool…

image image image image

Last but not least….Milan (more coats and some gnarly weather).

One thing’s for sure, whether slung over the shoulders in editorial fashion or worn traditionally, statement outerwear is the fashion set’s bible when it comes to inclement weather!

Street Style Roundup: Paris Fashion Week S/S 2013

As always, the style set did not disappoint as they flooded the rues of the Left Bank for the final round of Spring 2013 shows.  Tons of maxis, florals, brights, leopard, jewel tones, a dash of grunge, and some back to basics…

This floral maxi and moto jacket combo is ridiculously cute, no?

Oh and the accessories… yeah, they did not disappoint either.  Hello, cobalt blue necklace and gold clutch!

How cozy does this shirt dress look?  Blue velvet never looked so chic.

Paris, je t’aime…

Look of the Day: Sweater Dressing

There’s nothing better than a cozy sweater dress on a crisp fall day.  In line with some of last week’s insightful comments about the current state of “street” style (check out this post on Man Repeller),  this look from Milan Fashion Week is slightly more pedestrian and simple — definitely wearable.  For a similar look, pair Asos’s collar necklace with this red Shoshanna dress or this cobalt blue number by Milly.   As for footwear, you could spice it up with Isabel Marant ankle boots.   Belgian loafers or almond toe skimmers are also an obvious choice for day.

Teen Vogue’s Jane Keltner de Valle in Jason Wu.

I’m DYING over this floral blouse on Taylor Tomasi Hill.

And this bold yellow midi skirt… yes, please.

Loving these wide leg stunners on Teen Vogue’s Sierra Tishgart.

Tory Burch 797 Crossbody in Plum

New favorite bag?  I think maybe…  It’s especially lovely here on Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules.  The rich plum color, while favoring the oxblood and burgundy trend for fall (not on my list of favorite colors), is more of an eggplant which I totally dig!  If only it were a couple inches taller to fit an iPad…
