This week marked Madewell’s grand opening in the Gold Coast and the retailer’s first store in the city of Chicago. I had the opportunity to pop in on opening day and found loads of good stuff! Take a gander…
Secret Garden Skimmers $65.50.
These flats are so ridiculously cute! Don’t be fooled by the ditsy floral print, they will go with a ton–I promise. I tried on the yellow version of this lace tee (below) and paired it with a striped mini, it was super cute. Since it’s a tad boxy it would work great with cropped skinnies, shorts, or layered over a chambray shirt.
Meadowlace Tee $78
With a slightly shrunken fit and a super soft saltstone wash, this is quite possibly the perfect chambray shirt.
A perfect companion for farmers market and weekend excursions, this petite crossbody bag is a must have.
Essex Minibag $98
Tucked into a skirt, shorts or trousers or worn under a sweater, blazer or cropped jacket, this roll-sleeve button up will be a true wardrobe workhorse.
Dressed up or down, this dress is super versatile and totally cute!
Meadowlace Dress $144
I would live in this neon pencil skirt all summer! Would be great with a v-neck tee, chambray shirt, or silk button down.
Zara is the bomb right now! This take on the black & white trend is especially great–not to mention, the entire look (sans bag) is under $200!
Via Late Afternoon (as above, Liz’s blog is chock full of great high/low pairings–definitely worth checking it out!)

Pair the understated elegance of Loeffler Randall with Tucker‘s statement prints and you have one mean collaboration! A perennial favorite for fabulous footwear, LR recently partnered with Gaby Basora of Tucker to launch a seven piece collection of shoes and handbags. And it couldn’t come any sooner–these floral and graphic prints are oozing spring!
Stunning!! Suffice it to say, I’m a little obsessed–especially with the graphic print, it will go with everything!
$49.95 at Gap.com
I was super skeptical to even try these flats on but they were so darn cute and the price was so so good… Well, to my surprise, they were super comfortable–and that’s saying A LOT coming from a girl with majorly picky feet. I will say there’s not much support but unless you’re walking non-stop all day, it shouldn’t be a problem for most. The black and white print literally goes with everything and looks especially great with pastels and neons. They also come in leopard, which is equally versatile. So the verdict is–get them! And don’t forget to enter code Gap25 for 25% off!
Leave it to Michelle Adams, Lonny’s Editor in Chief, to bring big style to a 475 square foot space in Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Her use of black, white, ivory and gold with splashes of color and graphic prints is such a great way to keep everything cohesive (a must in a small space) but still interesting. Take a gander.
Love, love, love!
Stunning! A tough moto jacket is the perfect counterpart to an otherwise feminine look–especially when paired with spring florals, pastels or white (my fave). Dress it up with lace up pumps as above or take a cue from Veronika Heilbrunner (below) and add some colorful sneaks. Either way, these ladies know how it’s done!
For a similar look try Vince’s Vintage Leather Jacket (splurge). Two more affordable options are the Oasis Slash Leather Biker Jacket ($296) and the ASOS Leather Biker Jacket ($169). This PU Quilted Biker Jacket is a steal at $88.00.

To cap off a great weekend catching up with friends in my favorite city, it doesn’t get much better than browsing upper King Street for design inspo. So, following an amazing brunch at the Rarebit, we hit two of my favorites: Michael Mitchel and Cosa Belle. Here are a few great finds–ignore the amateur iPhone photography…
This pair of 1970s bunching chests at Michael Mitchel was marked down to $1600. The lucite and brass pulls are stunning! Together they could function as a media console or as extra storage behind a sofa. Separate these babies would provide great storage and symmetry as nightstands flanking either side of the bed.
Also at Michael Mitchell, this trio of tables offers great lines and my favorite combo of gold and marble. Similar styles have been popping up all over but always at insane prices. These were marked down to $1400 for all three–still no steal but a better deal than I’ve seen in other places.
I’ve always loved this style of chair especially when paired with a rustic looking farm table like this.
This one is for my boyfriend. He was obsessed with this pair of burnt wood lamps we spied on a trip to Charleston last spring. This one is a similar style but with punctures in the glass, pretty cool looking when you’re close up. The iPhone camera does it no justice.
These emerald green suede chairs we spotted at Cosa Belle are the bomb. They need a little love to repair some worn edges but otherwise would be a great addition to add a dose of mid-century flare to traditional decor.
