As I prepare to be a bridesmaid this weekend, I couldn’t think of a better location or time of year for a wedding in Charleston. I never put much thought into it until I was picking up my dress from alterations (a long charcoal grey Amsale number) and came across the September edition of Charleston Weddings. While I have this thing against reading wedding magazines when you’re not engaged or have any real reason to be reading them, I was ten minutes early(a rarity) and there was nothing else to read… So, I put my eccentricities aside and I have to say I was truly enamored by this October 2010 wedding at the Thomas Bennett House. Umm, it’s pretty ideal.
LOVE the dress, a family heirloom belonging to the bride’s great-great-great grandmother. Go figure.
Like most southern weddings, this couple opted for food stations over a sit down dinner. With bistro-style tables, the casual seating and strands of lights lend a romantic european feel. Add some handsome live oak trees, spanish moss and sounthern charm- you can’t go wrong! They definitely do weddings right in Charleston.
