Lizette Bruckstein San Fran Apartment Den

Home to interior designer Lizette Bruckstein, this expertly curated San Francisco apartment masters the perfect balance of patina and polish.  At first glance, you would never guess the space isn’t, in fact, vintage.  Situated in a downtown highrise, Bruckstein added features like crown molding, chair rails and a vintage fireplace facade to reflect a layered, storied charm.  Rich dark paint amps up the glam factor while keeping true to the overall vintage vibe.

Pops of chartreuse, bold geometric prints and upholstery with clean lines compliment and downplay the Victorian influences.

These brass chairs (above) are everything–NEED to find the source…  And, can we talk about the 19th Century fireplace facade (below)?  A brilliant way to add vintage charm to new construction.

Loving the asymmetrical placement of Victorian mirrors and vintage frames mixed with contemporary art and photographs.  The intricate lines of the mirrors mimics the busy wallpaper but provides just the right amount of polish while the contemporary artwork serves as the juxtaposing focal point.  Also loving the clean lines of the four-post bed and simple solid linens.

In the Details: Print, Pattern & a Little Malachite

1-Lindsey Coral Harper Malachit Zebra Apartment - Copy

Designer Lindsey Coral Harper’s Upper Eastside digs are unabashedly littered with an eye-catching collection of malachite, zebra, and a touch of bohemia–in a good design-y kind of way!  Bold colors and contrasting prints might not be everyone’s bag, but when done right, it really works.  That gorge Monique Lhuillier malachite print dress ain’t too bad either.

Color Crush: Blush

elena perminova blush pink maxi dress paris

Somewhere between petal pink and peachy beige, blush hues are the sophisticated counterpart to winter white.  Whether paired with black leather, white or juxtaposed against brights, this muted neutral feels fresh, optimistic and even reminiscent of sunny days to come.  Especially loving it worn monochrome below (P.S. check out that gorge Sophie Hulme envelope clutch, the mini version is on sale at farfetch here–tempting)!

Decor Inspo: Pattern Play

Always a sucker for mixed prints, I’m really digging bold patterns paired with something geometric.  Grounded with a stripe rug, geometric tile or chevron curtain panels, these rooms bravely master a multitude of textiles, textures and colors.

Decor Inspo: Nate Berkus’ West Coast Digs

Nate Berkus and fiance Jeremiah Brent can do no wrong in my book.  The mix of brass, black, earthy tones, and lush textures creates a laid-back masculine aesthetic with a healthy dose of glam.  Love how they balanced the home’s hollywood regency architecture with sleek modern furnishings and accessories.  Perfection!

Stripes, Pattern & Fur = Inspo for the Bedroom

I’ve been held hostage at the airport for what seems like an eternity… Fortunately, I have an abundance of magazines, work, and an iPad to rescue me from boredom. Peaking my interests in particular (which is not incredibly hard given my surroundings) is Carolina Herrera Baez’s gorgeous bedroom featured in this month’s Elle Decor.

How inviting is that striped canopy? I particularly love the combination of crisp white linens, poppy red florals and fur. The console table, artfully decorated with reading material, is equally inviting. A cozy and glamorous oasis! I know where I would rather be… (and I still have my lovely window seat to look forward to, yay).

A Peak Inside Taylor Tomasi Hill’s NYC Pad

A favorite of street-style photographers, the former Marie Claire accessories editor turned e-commerce director recently opened the doors of her Chelsea apartment for a peak inside with Vogue.   When pressed to describe her decorating philosophy, the taste-maker remarked, “A little bit of everything.  Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t, but that’s what makes it fun.  I just try again.”   Love it!  I would add that it also helps to have amazing taste!
