Apartment Envy: Artfully Appointed

jenna-snyder-phillips-serene-living-room-abstract-art

Home to artist Jenna Snyder-Phillips, this gorgeous NYC apartment is littered with bold art work, rich textures and laid back prints (think tropical, animal and tie-dye).   Filling a space with fabulous art and accents is certainly a skill (and not cheap)–it definitely doesn’t hurt to be an accomplished artist!  I’m personally obsessed with the abstract pairing above and below.  Absolutely showstopping.  You can check out more of her fabulous works here.

A neutral palette of black, white and grey gets a dose of feminine glam with splashes of emerald green, brass accents and chic wall art in this fabulously styled loft by Caitlin & Caitlin.  The lovely duo behind the California-based interior design company that conceived this fabulousness are serious up-and-comers.  Check out their portfolio, it’s pretty insane!

Apartment Envy: Casual Glam by Lilly Bunn

image

Designer Lilly Bunn does it again–this time for a modern-day Holly Golightly in Manhattan’s Upper Eastside.  Purple grass cloth, an Arteriors starburst pendant, and zebra print rug create a glamorous statement in the entryway.

imageLacquered walls in Benjamin Moore’s Bittersweet Chocolate play up the small space, creating a cozy and sophisticated sitting area.

image

Bunn offsets the moody walls with white accents like floor to ceiling drapes hung by brass rods, a sleek parsons coffee table, and Jonathan Adler Chippendale armchairs.

image

The lucite game table by Kartell visually lightens the space while also doubling as a dining area.  Love it styled with the bamboo folding chairs–another fabulous space saver.

image

Black painted cabinets in the kitchen mimic a smart butler’s pantry, while a roman shade upholstered in a playful ikat keeps things casual.

A classic blue and white motif carries the youthful vibe to the bedroom where Matouk bed linens and an upholstered headboard are flanked by Bungalow 5 side tables.  Gorgeous!

Apartment Envy: Nicole Cohen of Sketch42

Nicole Cohen Sketch 42 Apartment Tour Living Room Brass Etagere

Nicole Cohen of Sketch42 recently did a little refresh to her gorgeous Manhattan apartment.  You may remember her 2011 renovation that received beaucoup accolades in the blogosphere (see previous post here).  Her updates lean a tad more cozy, trading hollywood regency flare for mid-century modern.  As always, she scored some amazing thrifty finds, including two Tobia Scarpa chairs previously discarded on the street (these babies sell for upwards of $8900 at Kelly Wearstler, among other sources).  For more details on the before and after, check out Rue Magazine (here).

Apartment Envy: A Feminine Modern Mix

Lilly-Bunn-nyc-apartment-tour

Bright, airy, and feminine, this apartment designed by Lilly Bunn Interiors is perfection.  I’m definitely guilty of repinning the above living room a few too many times–it’s beyond fabulous.  The lush emerald sofa, brass coffee table and orangerie floral layered over a vintage beni is divine.

Lilly-Bunn-nyc-apartment-tour-acrylic-desk

Lucite is always a chic option when space is limited.  It also adds an element of modernity and, as here, coordinates effortlessly with the upholstered x-benches and texture rich beni ourain.  Also loving the personal accents below, especially those leopard frames.

Lilly-Bunn-nyc-apartment-tour-details

This powder room wallpaper, Tanzania by Thibaut, is one of my all time faves. I’ve been dying to use it somewhere, a bath just may be the perfect space.

Lilly-Bunn-nyc-apartment-tour-bath-spotted-wallpaper

Small details like this wallpapered ceiling make a major impact.  That light fixture is pretty sweet as well (this etsy imposter is pretty comparable and only $95)

I’m obsessed with the Arteriors light fixture below, it’s sooo good!  The Madeleine Weinrib upholstered chair injects a vivid pop of purple to the otherwise muted palette.

A green velvet upholstered headboard, Bungalow 5 nightstands and leopard accents keep things cozy and fresh.

In the Details: Print, Pattern & a Little Malachite

1-Lindsey Coral Harper Malachit Zebra Apartment - Copy

Designer Lindsey Coral Harper’s Upper Eastside digs are unabashedly littered with an eye-catching collection of malachite, zebra, and a touch of bohemia–in a good design-y kind of way!  Bold colors and contrasting prints might not be everyone’s bag, but when done right, it really works.  That gorge Monique Lhuillier malachite print dress ain’t too bad either.

Apartment Envy: DVF’s St. Germain Retreat

DVF Paris Apartment 1

When you’re as creative and seductive a force as Diane von Furstenberg, it’s no surprise that such exuberance transcends just as organically from work to home.  The NYC based designer’s gorgeous Parisian apartment featured in InStyle a few years back is eclectic, inviting, and glamorous.  The mix of patterns, vibrant colors and textures is so very DVF and so very awesome.  Love all of it.

Apartment Envy: Ali Cayne’s West Village Townhouse

AliCayneWestVillageTownhouse-kitchen

Jaw dropping gorgeousness!  Recently featured in Domino (yes, the ever popular glossy is BACK!!), restauranteur Ali Cayne’s West Village abode is a restored vintage gem.  Cayne, who has no background in design, seamlessly weaves elements of gold, brass, splashes of color and texture against a black & white motif that transcends effortlessly from room to room.  Dhurrie and Moroccan rugs throughout juxtapose perfectly with the home’s vintage bones while also lending a relaxed, inviting feel.
