Maybe it’s London’s vibrant punk scene or perhaps the moody fog off the Thames, either way grunge is having a bit of a moment at London Fashion Week (in a good 90s chic kind of way).  90s trends have been rearing their head for the past few seasons (i.e. neon, destroyed cuffed denim, crop tops, oversized sweatshirts, sneakers…the list goes on) but never before have they seemed this relevant.  From leather moto jackets and florals to oversized everything and acetate mirrored sunglasses, this roundup could pass as easily for 1995 as 2014.

FASHUN! Nothing like a little chic from the fashion set to start off the week. Â Loving Kelly Framel’s winter white coat and fur vest above–darling. Â Touches of navy and white were also a common theme–a sign that spring is coming soon, right? Â Let’s hope!

I heard some outrageous statistic that the average temperature in the entire United States is projected to be 16 degrees today. Â That’s crazy cold. Â Brutal cold. Â Unheard of cold. Â In fact, it’s probably a record. Â While I can’t complain just yet (it’s 60 degrees now), the mercury is expected to drop rapidly throughout the day to a low of 18 degrees by tomorrow morning–rarely seen lows and definitely a record in Charleston. Â That said, cold weather dressing is certainly in order (for everyone)!

Taste maker extraordinaire, this Harper’s Bazaar editor is always a street style fave. Â Can’t get enough of her signature red lip complimented by loads of leopard, fur and edgy accessories. Â Her Manhattan wedding featured in Harper’s Bazaar was such a simple chic affair–check it out here. Â Her custom designed Rochas gown is to die for!

In case you haven’t heard (or noticed), the Pantone color for Spring 2014 is….Dazzingly Blue. Â This robust shade of cobalt is the boldest of the muted palette of front runners rounding off Spring’s top ten hues, which includes shades of violet, orchid, orange, freesia, cayenne, sand, and hemlock (a sage green). Â Equally at ease with brights and pastels, Spring 2014’s trending tone is one that’s easy to incorporate. Â Wear now with rich jewel tones or simple black & white. Â Another fail safe option: a cobalt clutch or handbag–it will be a definite go-to, both now and later.

In a fashion world of fabulous contradictions, juxtapositions and irony, what better exemplar to ring in the change of seasons than a classic cable knit contrasted with an edgy leather skirt? Â With leather literally EVERYWHERE right now, this laid-back glam pairing is spot on. Â Hello, new fall uniform!
Topshop Angora Cable Knit, $92, here; A-Line Leather Skirt, $170, here.
Pair it with ankle boots and a crossbody bag and you’re good to go–Sophie Hulme’s Envelope Clutch (here) is my new obsession!
